Famotidine works by blocking histamine H2 receptors on a competitive basis. Important pharmacological activity of famotidine is inhibiting gastric secretion, so that the volume of gastric secretion and acid concentration decreased.
Composition:
Each film coated tablet contains 40 mg of famotidine.
Dosage:
Acute duodenal 1.Ulkus: Adults: 40 mg daily or 20 mg two times before night's sleep. 2.Pemeliharaan duodenal ulcer: Adults: 20 mg daily before bedtime. 3.Hipersekresi pathological (eg, Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome, Multiple Endocrine Adenomas) Adults: initial dose of 20 mg / 6 hours, the dosage may be increased to 160 mg / 6 hours in patients with Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome is severe. 4.Dosis in patients with kidney disorders: – 60> Clcr> 30 half the normal dose – Clcr <30 one-quarter the normal dose.
Indications:
Famotidine is indicated for: 1.Terapi short-term treatment of acute duodenal ulcer. 2.Pemeliharaan duodenal ulcer patients at reduced dosage after recovering from an active ulcer. 3.Pengobatan on pathological hypersecretory conditions (eg Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome, multiple endocrine adenomas).
