Glibenklamide 5 mg


Glibenklamida is an oral hypoglycemic sulfonyl urea derivative works actively lowers blood sugar levels. Glibenklamida works by stimulating the secretion of insulin from the pancreas. Therefore glibenklamida only beneficial in diabetics adult pancreas still produces insulin. On the use of oral glibenklamida most rapidly absorbed and scattered throughout the extracellular fluid, largely bound to plasma proteins. Giving a single dose glibenklamida will lower blood sugar levels in 3 hours and can last for 15 hours. Glibenklamida excreted along with feces and urine as metabolites.

Composition:

Indications:
Diabetes mellitus in adults, without the complications that are unresponsive to diet alone.

Dosage:
Initial dose 1 tablet daily after breakfast, every 7 days increased with 1 / 2 – 1 tablet a day until the optimal control of metabolites is reached. Initial dose for the elderly 2.5 mg / day. The highest dose of 3 caplets a day in divided doses.
