Linezolid



Linezolid is antibiotic oxazolidinone. Linezolid works by disturbing the protein manufacture the necessary bacteria to grow.

Indications:

To treat various bacterial infections such as pneumonia, skin infections, and infections that are resistant to other antibiotics.

Dosage:

600 mg by mouth (orally), 2 times a day.

600 mg intravenously (intra venous), repeat every 12 hours.

Side Effects:

GI effects (diarrhea, N / V, metallic taste, constipation, diarrhea / colitis associated with antibiotic use can occur); CNS effects (headache, insomnia, dizziness); hepatic effects (abnormal LFTs); haematological effects (myelosuppresssion who could return, including leucopenia, anemia, Pancytopenia, thrombocytopenia has occurred); Other effects (infections moniliasis).

Special Instructions:

Use with caution in patients who already have myelosuppresssion and patients with severe renal dysfunction.

It is advisable to monitor the amount of blood every week.
