Warfarin

:

Warfarin is an anticoagulant (blood thinner). Warfarin reduces the formation of bloodclots by inhibiting the formation of certain clotting factors.

Indications:

To prevent a heart attack, stroke and blood clots in veins and arteries.

Dosage:

2-5 mg by mouth (orally), 1 times daily

The next dose should be adjusted to INR = 1.5-2.5

Side Effects:

Bleeding can occur even without the level of INR (International Normalized Ratio)therapeutic.

Other effects are less common: Embolization of cholesterol (skin necrosis and discoloration of the toes was purple); Securities GI (N / V, diarrhea); Other effects(alopecia, skin reactions, liver dysfunction, pancreatitis).

Special Instructions:

Dosage should be adjusted, guided by monitoring INR (International Normalized Ratio)is regular.

Patients should be informed about the risks of therapy together with the interactionbetween drugs and foods.

Avoid in patients with active bleeding and in general should not be administered to patients who have a risk of bleeding, peptic ulcer disease (peptic ulcer disease), severeinjury, cerebrovascular disorders and bacterial endocarditis.

Use with extra attention or not used at all in patients with liver damage or severe kidneydamage.
