Bosentan is an endothelin receptor antagonist groups. This drug works by blocking certain substances in the lungs, which helps reduce blood pressure in the lungs.
Indications:
To treat high blood pressure in the lungs or the so-called PAH (pulmonary arterial hypertension).
Dosage:
Initial dose: 62.5 mg by mouth (orally), 2 times a day, do it for 4 weeks.
Then increase to maintenance dose: 125 mg by mouth (orally), 2 times a day.
Side Effects:
Headache, nasopharyngitis, skin redness, abnormal liver function, edema, hypotension, palpitations, GI disturbances, fatigue, pruritus, syncope, anemia.
Special Instructions:
Avoid in patients with impaired liver function moderately severe.
Check LFT before treatment and then do each month.
Measure Hb after 1 and 3 months of therapy and 3 months after that.
Suitable contraception should be used in women of reproductive age.
