Mazindol



Mazindol is a sympathomimetic amine, similar to an amphetamine. The drug is alsoknown as drug ”anorectic” or ”anorexigenic”. Mazindol stimulates the central nervoussystem (nerves and brain), which increases heart rate and blood pressure anddecrease appetite. 

Indications:

Used as a short term supplement to diet and exercise in the treatment of obesity.

Dosage:

Initial dose: 0.5-1 mg by mouth (orally), 1 times daily

May increase the dose to 1.5-2 mg / day by mouth (orally) after 1 week of treatment,according to patient response.

Maximum dose: 3 mg / day by mouth (orally), in divided doses.

The duration of treatment: 8 weeks

Implementation:

Give in the morning after breakfast.

Dose night is not recommended because it can cause insomnia and anxiety.

Repeated treatment is required to provide the ’drug free’ with a long duration of treatment is the same as before.

Side Effects:

Dry mouth, anxiety, constipation, sleep disturbances, nausea and vomiting with afrequency slightly, headache, dizziness, tachycardia, loss of libido, impaired mikturisi,an unpleasant taste in the mouth.

Special Instructions:

Berkontraindikasi with arterisklerosis patient information, acute hypertension,hyperthyroidism, glaucoma, impaired state, had a history of drug abuse.

Guanakan with caution in patients with acute renal failure or liver.
