Procainamide

:

Procainamide is a drug used to help keep the heart beating normally in peoplewho have certain heart rhythm disturbances in the heart chambers (ventricles aresmaller which allows blood to flow out of the heart). Procainamide affects the waythe heart beats.

Indications:

Used to keep the heart beating normally in people who have certain heart rhythm disturbances in the heart chamber.

Dosage:

Non-VF/VT

20 mg / min IV infusion through

Advanced Infusion: 1-4 mg / min

Side Effects:

CV effects (hypotension), GI effects (diarrhea, N / V, impaired taste)

Special Instructions:

Berkontra indications in patients with high-degree heart block, ventriculartachycardia, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), the concurrent use ofcisapride, QT extension.

Use with caution in patients who have undergone an extension of the QT and thatin combination with drugs that prolong the QT distance.

Keep an eye on continuous ECG and BP during drug administration.
