Tobramycin



Tobramycin is the aminoglycoside antibiotics. Tobramycin has the ability to turn off various types of sensitive bacteria in the body.

Indications:

To treat cystic fibrosis and certain infections (Pseudomonas aeruginosa).

Dosage:

Pseudomonas aeruginosa:

8 mg / kg / day through the muscle (intra muscular) or through a vein (intra-vascular), 1 times daily

Side Effects:

Ototoxic effects (can cause ototoxicity that can not be changed, in the form of hearing loss, dizziness, vertigo); renal effects (nephrotoxicity that can be changed, acute renal failure reported to occur usually when other nephrotoxic drugs are also given); neuromuscular effects (inhibition of which produces neuromuscular depression row and muscular paralysis); hypersensitivity reaction.

Special Instructions:

Ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity are most likely found in geriatric patients and patients who are dehydrated, in patients receiving high doses or who take medication for a long time, those who also receive or have received other nephrotoxic or ototoxic drugs. (Note supervision or peak serum concentration and serum concentration / MIC ratio in this patient)

Use with caution in patients with a condition associated with muscle weakness (eg, myasthenia gravis, Parkinson’s disease), patients who have renal dysfunction, vestibular or cochlear damage.
