Treprostinil

Treprostinil soon is a prostaglandin. This drug works by relaxing blood vessels andimprove blood supply to the lungs in patients with diseases of PAH (pulmonaryarterial hypertension).

Indications:

To treat high blood pressure in the circulatory system of PAH (pulmonary arterialhypertension).

Dosage:

Initial dose: 1.25 ng / kg / min infusion subcutaneous proceed.

If this is not acceptable, the dose should be divided by two.

The number of infusion may be added based on the patient’s response to the increase of up to 1.25 ng / kg / min every week for the first 4 weeks, followed by an increase up to 2.5 ng / kg / min each week.

Maximum dose: 40 ng / kg / min.

Side Effects:

CV effects (vasodilation, edema, hypotension), CNS effects (headache, dizziness),dermatological effects (rash, pruritus), GI effects (diarrhea, nausea).

Local effects: pain at the point of infusion can be increased for a few months oftherapy; reaction at the point of infusion.

Special Instructions:

Use with caution in patients with kidney damage.

A sudden cessation or reduction of many doses can exacerbate symptoms of PH.
